Elder Walter R. Oliver, Jr. is the Pastor of Ebenezer Chapel in New Haven, CT. Elder Walter Oliver, Jr.
was born and raised in New Haven, CT and received his formal education in the New Haven Public
School system. He graduated from Richard C. Lee High School (1984) and continued his
educational career at South Central Community College (Communications) and Southern
New England Bible Institute West Haven, CT (Theology).
Elder Oliver, Jr. studied for many years under the tutelage of his grandfather, the late
District Elder Walter J. Oliver, the founder and original Pastor of Ebenezer Chapel,
who mentored him in the art of serving. He has not only been the church janitor,
Sunday School teacher, groundkeeper, broadcast engineer; but he’s also assisted in
just about every church capacity; for his grandfather firmly believed, ” In order to be a
good leader, you must be a good follower”.
Elder Oliver, Jr. also faithfully served under the tutelage of Suffragan Bishop Joseph H. Oliver
as an assistant teacher (Sunday school), Youth Bible class teacher; Youth Minister, Church
Administrator and as Suffragan Bishop Oliver’s adjunct. Under Suffragan Bishop Joseph Oliver’s
leadership, Elder Oliver, Jr. has acquired many life changing gifts, one which is the spirit of humility.
Elder Walter R. Oliver, Jr. is a visionary with the unique qualities that transcend both business and
religious organizations to bring a fresh perspective to the world. Elder Walter R. Oliver, Jr. is
happily married to Rosemarie Miles Oliver of 26 years. They reside in Wallingford, CT
and have been blessed with three sons, Walter R. Oliver, III, Gabriel D. Oliver and Michael A. Oliver.
